PILATES, YIN YOGA & MYOFASCIAL RELEASE

“Adèle is a talented instructor and gift to those around her. She is so knowledgeable yet humble. She gives clear instructions while at the same time listens to her client’s needs. Adèle’s classes will make an impact on your life and leave you feeling inspired and rejuvenated!”

– DARLA LAND, PILATES CLIENT

All 1:1 private sessions with me can focus on any one of these modalities or incorporate a combination to suit your body’s needs.

I tailor each live session to meet you where your body is at and help you get to where you want your body to be.

Inevitably, when working with the body, you’ll find that positive impacts will overflow beyond our sessions together and into the rest of your life.

I believe that working consistently and compassionately with our bodies allows us to expand into our lives as fuller, happier, more healthy versions of ourselves.

“I met Adele at a fancy Pilates studio in Los Angeles, but when she moved away, I stuck with her via zoom. Adele is extremely nurturing and fantastic at her job. Even though we work via zoom she is able to correct my posture perfectly. Adele will never let you down.

When I am in pain, she will stop everything to help me. And not just me! I have referred to her friends and family and somehow she is able to help each one of us with whatever it is we need in the moment.

I recommend her wholeheartedly. Her competence, her sweetness and her extreme empathy will serve you well!”

PILATES

Look and feel better! We all want this but most of us need some help and support to achieve our goals.

Life is busy and full for most of us so having the accountability, guidance and direction of a specialised one-on-one coach can make all the difference.  When I am working with you I give my full attention to you and what you need.  Going to the Gym or a Yoga class can be intimidating and not always easy to fit into a busy schedule.  Working one on one with you in this capacity allows me to offer my 18 years of training and experience in a way that is very specific to you.

Pilates strengthens and stabilises muscles and joints while increasing mobility and working to correct any imbalances. It builds core strength which is so important to developing functional and sustainable movement.  It improves posture and is a low-impact form of exercise that suits any body type or experience level. It is available and accessible to everyone. We work on a mat with or without small props that can be easily and inexpensively purchased.  If you have a reformer we can work with this as well.

Some of the many potential benefits of Pilates are core strength, increased flexibility, improved posture, Long, toned, strong muscles, increased energy, weight loss, mind/body connection, reduced back pain, prevents injuries, reduces menstrual pain, improved balance and proprioception, boosts immunity, improved sex life, enhances sports performance, strengthens bones, improves sleep, boosts mood, relieves stress and enhances focus.

YIN YOGA

Yin Yoga is the Yin to the Yang of Pilates. They complement one another beautifully.

Yin Yoga is on the restorative end of Yoga. Here we hold poses (usually on the floor) for extended periods of time in supported positions.

It is very gentle and the focus is going to be to bring the stretch into deeper connective tissue like your fascia, ligaments, joints, and bones. It is slower and more meditative, giving you space to turn inward and tune into both your mind and the physical sensations in your body.

It is based on ancient Chinese philosophies and Taoist principles which believe there are energy pathways of Qi (energy) That run through our bodies.

By stretching and deepening into poses, we’re opening up any blockages and releasing that energy to flow freely.

MYOFASCIAL RELEASE

Myofascial Release is a form of massage that focuses on releasing connective tissue.  We use balls, rollers or other props so you can essentially do self-Myofascial Release. Fascia is a clingy spider web of tissue that wraps over and around and through every muscle, bone and organ in our body connecting and separating from top to toe. Fascia has nerves that make it almost as sensitive as skin.  When it dries up and tightens around muscles and joints it can limit mobility and cause painful knots to develop. It is very important to keep fascia healthy and flexible.  There are different ways to do this.  One of them being holding gentle stretches for 2 minutes or more as in Yin Yoga and another being massage or the use of props for self massage.
